dreaming in bloglish

I’m not fluent in any language other than English — though I can stumble painfully along in the particular dialect of Indirectese that my inlaws speak — but I’ve always heard it said that when you start dreaming in another language, you know you own it.

Last night I was in the midst of a dream in which bizarre things were being perpetrated around and upon me, and I thought, “I am so going to blog this.” And, still fully dreaming, began to reflect on precisely the angle I would take in the telling.

Please tell me you do this too, and it’s just a sign of stretching into a new sphere of fluency… right? And not an indication of, oh, say, addiction… because I hear tell alcoholics dream about drinking, too.

When I studied French, I did used to dream in French. But I would never claim to have been fluent in the language.

I’ve never dreamed about blogging, though.

that’s interesting! I have dreamed, when I was injured and couldn’t run or do anything really physical, that I was running. My dreams aren’t about fluency, they are usally about anxiety, and I tend to have the classic anxiety dreams (forgetting to go to a class all semester and the like)

Ha! You know, I have not dreamed about blogging yet, but I do think of it at the oddest times.

I once watched so much NCIS over a weekend, the characters were in my dreams. Sad. I had to go no-NCIS cold turkey for a couple of weeks. It was either that or rehab and that would have cut into my facebook time…..

I dream about blogging too. Only mine are anxiety dreams. You know, like I suddenly remember that I have a blog, and have failed to post anything for a month or so. My subconscious was clearly beating me up.

It’s totally normal to dream about stuff you’re doing in real life, as well as things you’re going to do. I keep a dream diary and sometimes dream about writing about the dream I just had in it, which is kind of odd sounding but still pretty normal when you consider it’s the first thing I’m going to do when I wake up and my brain knows it.

I almost never remember my dreams, but I find I think of blogging alot, so I wouldn’t be surprised if a dream came along!

Now, please…a post about the Indirectese would be interesting! :) That kind of stuff is so interesting to me!
